After the Storm

The other day Kathy and I went out for a bit. It wasn’t the best of days weather-wise. It was overcast with intermittent rain. Coming home we decided to travel I-81 just because we were close to the on ramp.

Rain was falling steadily as we traveled south, but the farther we went the more the rain was lessening until as we neared the exit before ours it stopped and the sun was starting to peek out through the clouds. The striking difference between what the sky was like and what it now looked like made me get off the interstate, pull off the road and just look. I also took out my phone and snapped a few pictures. As always, photos don’t do justice to what we actually saw, but I think you will get the idea.

Shot through the car window these clouds are lined with gold, not silver.

When the days are dark
When things don't go as you planned.
Hope always shines through.

When we got home the sky had transformed from gray to pink. Looking east from our porch.

The sky has turned from
gray to blue to sky-blue pink.
Uplifting spirits.

  1. The colours of clouds are fascinating and I am thankful for my mobile that I can take photos. But as you have said there is a slight difference in photos. Thank you for sharing the photos.

We need the beauty of nature, the amazing colors of the sky, the moments that take the breath away. I agree with your comment that the photos don’t make justice to the the reality but they give a beautiful glimpse and bring a smile to the viewer.

  3. Yes, they do and they do bring back the memory.

I love the way you took us on your journey and I’m grateful for the amazing pictures you shared with us. The older I get, the more I am enthralled by Mother Nature’s shows.

  5. Bob, finding that golden lining made me smile. Hope is on the horizon, we just need to look for it.

  6. Beautiful photos! I love pictures of the sky.
