PCTELA 2021 is On

After much conversation and zoom meetings the Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English and Language Arts (PCTELA) Board decided to go ahead with the planned 2021 conference. This year it will be held in Harrisburg, a 40 minute drive for me, on October 22 – 23. It promises to be an exciting and informative conference.

I know our conference chairs have worked hard gathering speakers and planning breakout sessions. The conference title is:

Because some people may not yet feel comfortable gathering in a group attendance can be in person or virtual. This can also help for those who wish to attend but their district may be cutting back on sending teachers to conferences. For those registering for the online conference, the content will be available through the end of 2021.

Our conference chairs have gathered up some great speakers for the conference, some who will speak in person while others will speak virtually:

Breakout sessions haven’t been announced yet, but I have seen the list of those who have applied. All I can say is that I can’t wait. It will be difficult to choose which sessions to attend.

Yes, I have already registered for the conference and made my hotel reservation through the pctela.org website. It will be great to see friends I haven’t seen in over a year, have some meals with them, and learn some new things along side them. Hope many others will be able to attend.

If it sounds like I am excited, I am.

  1. This is exciting! I’ve enjoyed so much online PD in the last year plus, but there is definitely something to be said for being in person. Enjoy!

  2. I am sure you will have a wonderful time. It will be so good to meet your friends.

How terrific! We decided to go virtual one more time at OCTE. Hopefully it will be the last one offered with that the only option. Enjoy! (I love the energy that comes from these gatherings.)

Ohhh…REVERBERATIONS. That one certainly takes some thought and consideration, and I think it’s worthy of reflection and conversation. So very excited for you to get back and interact with human people. In person!

  5. Bob, I love the title of the conference as it will capture the tone of the season, post-COVID shut-in time. I am glad that you are excited and shared the joy.

  6. Reverberations is a fantastic title, especially as we work our way around in the world of Covid and its impact. I like that the conference is both virtual and physical. I suspect that will be a thing for many events in the forthcoming years.

I can see how you will suffer at such a mundane gathering that holds no interest for you at all. 😉

    • It will be interesting to see how it works out. Yes, it will be mundane, but a second, or third chocolate martini might help me through it.
