Can’t Wait

I have been anxiously waiting for this moment and it looks like it might happen. As many of you know, Kathy and I are avid theatre fans. We like live shows and have misses our trips to NYC to see some musicals.

We have also missed going to the Hershey Theatre where we have season tickets for the Broadway package. Well, last week I had an email from the treater stating that they are reopening in November.

The first show will be Waitress. It was part of last year’s package, but like everything else it was postponed and then canceled. Now it is back on.

We were told that the tickets we had for last year’s performance would be honored in November. There is nothing we need to do except show up on the date of the show.

To make the day even more exciting we heard from our theatre friends. They are from Reading and have had the seats behind us for many years. We have gotten to know them from talking with them before shows and at intermission.

A few years ago we started meeting for lunch before the show. We attend the 2:00 matinee on Saturday. I heard from one of the ladies and they are looking forward to the shows starting and us getting together for lunch once again.

It has been too long and we can’t wait. Maybe things are slowly getting back to some sense of normalcy.

  1. That’s good news! November still seems like a long way off, but it is hopeful. I’m glad you’ll get to enjoy the shows again.

How wonderful for ALL of you. What a cool tradition that you established that will see a renewal in November. (I love the WAITRESS story., a fun one to greet your return.)

  3. Oh my gosh I just got word that my tickets are also being renewed in New York (not the city)! Your post captured exactly how I felt yesterday! I loved Waitress when it came to Rochester! It is such an exciting time of year to finally have our theater shows back and a semblance of normalcy. 💛

  4. Oh, Ralph and I will join you for a production in Spring 2022. Is Anastasia on the schedule? We are going to do some Surflight Theater in late August and September on LBI. We love live performances, too!

    So great! Ruth,

  6. Sounds amazing! So exciting that these types of things are starting up again!! I can’t wait to go to a concert again!

I love how you became friends with the people who always sit behind you. So fun! I have been going to some conventions lately (for the show The Vampire Dairies) and became friends with a few of the people who sat around me for the weekend. And now we are friends on Facebook and are hopefully going to the next convention again, if they keep it on! It’s supposed to be in October, so I’m crossing my fingers!

    Have a great time!

  7. That’s great news! Everything will start up again one thing at a time. I’m excited for that! I still owe my daughter a birthday party!

  8. Our local dinner theater sent out similar announcements… my sister and I will be going to Smoke on the Mountain for our first time back.

  9. This is great news, Bob. The family has been planning a trip back to Hershey with our little ones. I miss our theater trips to Broadway and the LI theater we had a subscription to until we decided to move. Then, COVID shut everything down. Our friends bought our seats but nothing has reopened. I still have a few small bottles of Hershey body lotion and it brings back the smell of chocolate and ignites seet memories.

    • I am so ready, Carol. Hershey is a unique place from the kisses street lights to the smell of chocolate. We always make a nice day of it when we go.

  10. *Applauds* That is excellent news. And you heard from your theatre friends, even better. Such excellent heralds for a sense of normality’s return indeed. Congrats!

How amazing and exciting this is! It’s wonderful that bit by bit, piece by piece, we’re starting to reclaim those parts of ourselves and our lives we have mourned the loss of. Just…WONDERFUL.
