It’s Gone to the Dogs, and Cats, and Elephants…

Day 23

Today we are revisiting May, 2019. On that day Kathy and I went to Lancaster to see Quiltfest. Although there were many beautiful quilts there, there seemed to be an overabundance of animal quilts that year. For this post I thought I would only focus on them.

When we were in Africa a few years ago we saw many elephants roaming the animal preserves we visited. Here are two that we did not see.

Although it is natural to look up in the sky and see birds flying from tree to wire I have never seen birds like these,

All of our cats are indoor cats, but there are some who live out in the wild.

Being a Leo I just had to capture this majestic guy.

Take a look at this proud profile.

This playful fellow seems to be having a good time romping through the field.

A movie poster with cats?

If you are a fan of Mondrian’s art work this cat is for you.

Although I sometimes hear them I rarely see them.

This will wrap up our tour of animal quilts. Tune in for the next installment of quilts. Don’t know what they will be yet.

I really like that second elephant one. These are all wonderful works of art. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I love the elephants! These quilts are amazing pieces of art. Thanks for sharing them with us!

Love the Mondrian cat! My sister was a quilter, but she never did anything that dramatic. I can’t wait to see more.

  4. Not what you usually think of when it comes to quilts!

I am pretty sure I have said it before: the quilt quality is mind-blowing. The amount of hours these people have invested in achieving the ahigh level of art and skill must be way beyond 20 000 hours.

  6. Loved the ram! Thanks for sharing and I just loved how you wrote about each one. And I’m a Leo too! 🙂

  7. What incredible works of art! The Mondrian cat made me smile. So glad to have some quilts this month on your blog! I was just telling my mom the other day (she loves quilts) how it just wouldn’t be March slicing without your quilt post! But you found a way after all!

Holy Moses, how do people do this? The elephant is stunning but one among quite a menagerie. The movie poster featuring sleuth felines is totally unbelievable. This is a tour de force (from a distance but certainly appreciated).

  9. I love picture quilts, but the traditional geometric designs are my favourite!

  10. The different styles, the intricate details and the creativity all around make each fascinating. Your commentary for each is delightful.

    • Thinking of the elephants, it is amazing how two people can have the same idea yet turn out two completely different pieces. Kinda like writers.

  11. Everyone loves quilts! Those animal ones are extraordinary in the detail, their makers must have taken so much time and planning. Thanks for sharing them!

  12. They are fantastic, some of them look like they will just walk out of the quilt.
