If you have been reading my blog over the last several March challenges you know that there was always one thing I devoted several posts to toward the end of the challenge and that was the quilt shows Kathy and I attended. Last year there were no shows due to covid. This year there were no quilt shows due to covid.
Therefore, I thought I would revisit shows from previous years and reshare some of the things we saw and what made them memorable. I thought I would start with the 2019 show that was held in Hershey.
Although I am a fan of traditional quilts this stained glass quilt caught my eye. This is definitely one to be hung on the wall and admired and not slept under.
I enjoy animal quilts all the more if they are whimsical.
There are always several pictorial quilts at a show.
If you know me there is no way I can pass up a cat quilt.
Not all quilts need to be colorful to be striking. Here is basically a black and white quilt.
As I said earlier, I tend to lean toward traditional quilt patterns. However, sometimes a modernistic quilt stand out.
A Baltimore album quilt is always pleasing. All those applique pieces.
What would a quilt show be without a wall of miniatures?
That will do it for today’s trip down memory lane. Tomorrow we will revisit another show.

Your photographs of the variety of beautiful quilts are striking! I would love to see that fine craftsmanship in person. You have inspired me to go to a quilt show, if the opportunity arises around me.
We are looking forward to the time when quilt shows will start up again. Like most things, pictures are nice but they don’t do justice to seeing the actual quilts.
Thank you for this retrospective. These are beautiful works of art and I missed your annual trip. It makes me wonder what beauties these – and other – quilters have been working in while sheltering at home. I bet there will be some amazing quilts when you can get to a show in person.
I can only imagine what the shows will hold once they start up again. You can bet that when we go I will snap pictures and I will post them.
I’m so glad you’re doing this. I love the young girl and the horse and the Baltimore album quilt. A bit of beauty on Monday morning makes my day! (I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.) Hopefully next year, you’ll be wandering the aisles in person.
We sure hope to be wandering aisles at shows. Kathy’s guild has even postponed their show scheduled for September of this year. It will now be held two years down the road.
These quilts are so beautiful! I am glad you shared the. I love the little girl hugging the pony. Craft fairs are great and I cannot wait to wander among the stalls in an outdoor venue again. Thanks for sharing, Bob!
Lynne, we have a big craft faire in the park across the street from us. It is always held the third Saturday in September. I am hoping they can have it this year.
I always love the quilt show pics you share. I thought of it last week and didn’t dare to ask, thinking it might make you sad because you are stuck at home. I am thankful you are sharing pics form old shows.
I just felt it wouldn’t be a March challenge if I didn’t include quilt slices even if they were from past years.
All of them are beautiful, but I especially love the black circles. And the modernistic quilt. Quilters are true artists!

We are lucky that we usually have at least three major quilt shows a year within driving distance.
There is such artistry to these quilts. They’re absolutely amazing! Your post reminds me of a video I watched about Quilt Week in Paducah. This video confirmed what I had already observed in my quilter friends: they are a bunch of GREAT people.
Kathy went to Paducah one year. She said it was unbelievable. She said she was like a kid in a candy store.
Glad you decided to do this – I love seeing the quilts. These are amazing. The black and white quilt was interesting – i can’t image putting it together. The pictorial quilts also always surprise me. They are so well done. Thanks for doing this.
Somehow it wouldn’t be a March challenge for me if I didn’t post some quilt pictures, even if they are from years ago. More tomorrow.

Oh my gosh I am so impressed by all of this. This slice reminds me of the time my sister made a quilt and showed it at our local fair… I think for tomorrow’s post I will revisit that. I have always been impressed by people that can create and I really enjoyed looking through these. ♥️

Nice timing! I was thinking about your annual quilt postings this, well yesterday, morning and how I missed them. Wonderful to revisit some of them.
These were always my go to topic when I ran out of ideas toward the end of the month.
They are lovely, so much passion and patience behind them. Last year so many things did not happen.
