Washing the Hands

Day 18

During the last year I have washed my hands more than I ever had.

I go to the store. I come home and I wash my hands.

I unpack the groceries. I wash my hands.

I go th Walmart for some things. After checkout I go to the restroom and wash my hands.

I unload the bags from the cart to the back of the car. I don’t wash my hands, but I do use hand sanitizer on them,

I like to thing my hands are clean, but apparently they are not clean enough for some.

It’s a wonder I have any skin left on my hands due to all of the extra washing and sanitizing. A good thing to have your little friend to get the germs the soap missed! 🙂

  2. What I love about this slice is that it instantly connects us all; the universality of excessive handwashing and sanitizing due to covid is one of those “new” defining aspects to our modern day lives. (and I appreciate the picture!)

If it isn’t hand-washing, it’s hand-wringing—symbols of the pandemic. (I truth the emory board of a cat’s tongue more than anything!) Love this one.

  4. She wants to make sure they are extra clean by her standards! I find myself washing and using sanitizer so much. My heads could use more lotion, but that is not usually part of the routine! My washing is taking a toll on my hands!

  5. Ah, yes, our pets want to be helpful !

It has definitely been a year for handwashing. And perhaps that handwashing kept us from handwringing and now healthier habits have simply become routines to fight off all germs!

  6. Love the cat washing your hands for you. Our dogs like hands, arms, legs, and feet! I sometimes feel like I am at the spa. What a great idea to write about! Bob, you keep coming up with wonderful ideas!

  7. Imagine how many more times you’d be washing if you were in a school! Our hands are all sore from the winter, the sanitizer and the washing. I’m sure the cat is much more gentle!

I read the first two lines of this and literally laughed out loud, because sadly, THIS is my life too. As for your animal companion? Well, to paraphrase Pooh, “You never can tell with cats…”

  9. Nice to have a furry friend to help with all that hand washing. I find myself doing the same and singing the alphabet song to be sure I am scrubbing enough. Lots of lotion has been needed this year! But my guess is we are all be bit healthier for the work we have done washing our hands.

  10. Great punchline! And the photo!! Thanks for the chuckle!

  11. I used to keep lotion at my desk at work because the liquid soap in the loo was so horrid to my hands. Now I keep lotion by the sink because I am washing and hand sanitizing so much at home and not cat conditioning. Okay, I giggled at that last line, thanks.

  12. My hands are raw from washing and I don’t often have lotion beside me nor a cat. Love the term cat conditioner that Raivenne coined. Enjoy another day of constant washing of the hands.

  13. That’s a hilarious twist at the end! Like Carol, my hands are raw from so much washing. I have never washed so often either and loved this post for capturing something that’s such a daily part of my day now that I don’t even think about it anymore. Except when my knuckles split from being raw from washing (and not enough lotion!).
