SOLSC Day 21
These next four days are going to be insanely hectic, at least to my way of thinking so I know my posts will be short and my comments won’t be made until the evenings.
What exactly is going on? Well, this is the third Wednesday of the month so we have a Dauphin County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (DCPASR) meeting at 10:00. We used to start the meetings at 9:30, but I could never make on time. Since I am president elect it is important to be there at the start.
Why couldn’t I make it? Well, every other month our community holds a Food Pantry. Kathy and I have been volunteering for years and don’t want to stop. The pantry doors open at 8:00, but we always arrive at 7:00 to stuff the bags and get them ready. When the doors open Kathy works the table filling out the paperwork while I load the bags into grocery carts and take them out to the cars for the people. The Pantry runs until 10:00 but we leave at 9:00 so that we can get to Harrisburg by 10:00.
Getting there for 7:00 means getting up a 6:00. I know there is no way I could write a post before we leave so this had to be written last night and stored in my drafts. Which it was.
Well, we are off. tomorrow isn’t shaping up to be much better.
Since I have written this there has been a change. Pantry is still on but meeting has been canceled because of the nor’easter. Thought I would post this anyway so you know what should have happened today.

One of the perks of retirement is the opportunity for volunteering. You and Kathy seem to have found a good outlet for that. Stay safe in the storm!

Busy for sure! Doesn’t the food pantry also involve lemon bars? At least now you don’t have to rush so much.
I think the workers would be a bit upset if we arrived without lemon bars.

I never believed the retired people I know who said they were busier in retirement than when they were working until I retired and found out it is true.
I suppose the upside is that you can stay at the pantry until 10. let’s hope this is the last storm of the season. I am cheering for Spring to overcome Winter sooner rather than later.
This storm id causing me headaches for tomorrow because I am co-hosting a two county bunch. Haven’t cancelled yet. Hope I don’t have to.
I know lots of people will be glad the pantry will be open. Hope it’s a good day there, just like it is supposed to be.
It will be a good day. I will do my best to make it so.

Yes, it does seem like we’re busier now that we’re retired. Hopefully the storm won’t mess with tomorrow’s plans! Enjoy retirement!
