SOLSC Day 16
I think that I had mentioned in a earlier post that Kathy and I are co-presidents elect for the Dauphin County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (DCPASR). Quite a mouthful. We officially take over duties January 1, 2019. It is a two year term. We got this honor because when our current president asked me if I would do it I didn’t say, “No, thank you.”
Dauphin County is in Region IV of the state. Yesterday there was a Region IV meeting. Last week we got an email from our present president saying that she is going on vacation and could not attend the meeting. Could we go in her place? I said yes. Again, I couldn’t say, “No”.
OK. We will go, take some notes, and report back to our Board at the March 21 meeting. Wait. Then I get another email from our president saying that at the meeting we must present what our Chapter is doing on June 28 which will be PASR Day in Pennsylvania. We got word that the Governor will make that proclamation. OK. I can do that. I don’t have a choice
One more thing, would we please invite the Region Director to our Fall Luncheon so that she can install the new officers? What’s one more thing to add to the list?
And another thing. Would we please let the Director know what we as a Chapter have done since the last region meeting? All that can be found in the current newsletter. OK. Really? I thought I just had to be a body at the meeting. Oh well.
Now the kicker is that the meeting was in Mechanicsburg which is about an hour and a half drive from home. Couple that with the fact that it is rush hour for people going to Harrisburg to work and hour and a half quickly becomes two hours.
I guess this is some of what I have to look forward to for the next two years. I have got to learn how to keep my big mouth shut!
