March 2016 Challenge, Day 2
Last week I mentioned the chest problems I was having and promised to post an update. Well, here it is.
On Thursday I had an appointment at West Reading Cardiology Associates with Dr. Olivera Gojkovic. After reviewing the information that my family doctor, Dr. Hafiz, sent down, examining me, and talking with me she told me I would need a cardiac catheterization. This did not come as a surprise.
Chances are good that I will need a stent. Dr. Hafiz did notice a problem with my left ventricle. It wasn’t supplying enough oxygen when called for during exercise. Just another case of supply not meeting the demand.
Anyway, a date was set up for the procedure. The earliest they have an opening is this Friday. I must report to the hospital by 6:30 A.M. This would not usually be a problem even though it is an hour and fifteen minute drive,
However, listening to the weather forecast they are calling for chance of snow Thursday into Friday, one to three inches. To be at the hospital for 6:30 would mean leaving the house at 5:00 which would mean getting up at 4:00. Even when I was working I didn’t get up until 4:30.
We will watch the weather during the week to see if things change. We just might end up going to Reading Thursday and spending the night. Kathy would probably spend Friday night as well. Don’t know how our beasties will like being alone two nights in a row.
Anyway, if things go well I will be discharged on Saturday. Chances and pretty good that I probably will not post or do any commenting on those two days. Hopefully I will be back to the challenge on Sunday.
In the meantime, I still have a post for tomorrow.
You seem so calm writing this.I am sending you prayers and good thoughts that all will be well, including the weather and the beasties!
I’ll keep being nervous until tomorrow night when I probably won’t get much sleep.
Good luck to you and I hope your recovery is quick.
Thank you, Lisa. I am hoping for the same thing.
Praying for you, Bob, that all goes smoothly and you’ll be back to your writing. Praying for Kathy as well, I’ve been in that situation before.
Thanks Judy. I couldn’t get through this without prayers.
Thanks for the update, I’ve been thinking about you and wondering. Yes, I think getting there the day before when snow is in the forecast is a smart thing. Take care and follow doctor’s orders and Kathy’s orders too.
When have I ever not followed Kathy’s orders? Don’t answer that. Being in Reading the night before means many good places to pick from for dinner. Will pass on the wine though.
Thanks for the update and warm thoughts and prayers for you, Kathy and the critters! Safe travels and speedy return to the “new normal”.
Hopefully the new normal will be in better shape than the old normal,
I’m glad you told us what’s happening now, and best wishes that you are fine by Saturday, no matter the weather and the motel. And I’m so glad you found this out in time! That’s the important thing!
Health is something we (me) take for granted. It is so easy to pass something off as indigestion or muscle strain.
Wishing you well, Bob. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. You write with such a calm attitude. I think I would be nervous wreck! But writing has a way of helping us cope. Take care!
Writing is definitely therapeutic. It has a way of helping me cope.
We are with you Bob, always.
Thanks Bonnie. Every journey is easier when shared.
I’ve had this on my mind since you first mentioned it! I’m praying for you…safe travels, safe procedure, safe and happy pets, back to writing quick as a wink!!!!
Appreciate the prayers, Lori. Looking forward to getting back to posting. Who knows, there might even be one about the OR experience.
Will definitely include you in my prayers. Doctors can do so much now – all the best!
It truly is amazing what can be done nowadays.
Thank you for the update, Arjeha. You write so calmly of this, try to keep that peace as you’re rolled into the O/R. You will be breathing as good as the healthy youngster you are in spirit soon enough. And we’ll be here waiting to here all about it upon your return,
Thanks, Raivenne. Hope I feel this calm on Friday. Oh, wait. I will. After all, I will be medicated.
Hi, Bob. I’m glad I know you by name now. Thank you for the thoughtful comments on my blog. I wish you all the best. I’ll be thinking of you. My father has two stents. I’m thankful they have the procedure.
It is amazing what they can do these days. I am thankful for the procedure as well. My wife had one put in sixteen years ago and it has made a big difference in her life.
Praying! Thank you for bravely sharing here!
Thanks, Aileen. Prayers are always welcome.
I heard that awful forecast for Friday morning. You know how things go around the Midstate when it snows. You’re better off to stay overnight in Reading so you’re close.
Holding you in my thoughts and wishing you the best on Friday, Bob.
Thanks Stacey, Staying in Reading will ease some of the pressure I’m sure.
Best wishes for the weather. Prayers for you and Kathy. Keep calm and trust God…seems you already know that.
Always have put my trust and confidence in God and have never been disappointed.
I’ll be thinking of you on Friday, Bob. I’ll have a word with the weather gods and see if this storm can be postponed.
Thanks Tara. Please tell those weather gods that I won’t be allowed to shovel for a bit so they need to keep the snow to themselves.
Sending best wishes! Just go the night before so you don’t have to worry! Make a day of it and try to do something fun just to distract yourself. We will be thinking of you and wish for a quick recovery! Take Care!
Dinner out Thursday night sounds good to me. Who knows when I’ll get food on Friday.
I could fill in for you writing this post. I’ll just sign it R. Hamera. They’ll never know if it’s robert or richard..Take care and have a speedy recovery
Go for it. I will never tell.
Praying for it to go well and that you head into Reading Thursday night! Thankfully, they do so many stents and those docs are pros!
Thanks Erika. It is amazing what they can do these days.
