Polar Vortex

You just got to love weather lingo – wind chill, Bermuda high, and now  Polar Vortex.  Maybe it is because I am in the middle of reading Dr. Sleep by Stephen King but I can just picture a horror novel or movie entitled The Polar Vortex,  Can’t you just see the movie poster?  A whole town running down the street screaming trying to escape the Polar Vortex (yeah, I am remembering the poster for The Blob).

I’m sure the movie would be a hit.  And just think of the sequels – The Polar Vortex Returns, of how about Revenge of the Polar Vortex.  I mean just think of it. This could be as big as the Harry Potter series, or Twilight, or Hunger Games.  It could fuel movies for years to come.

If the big screen wouldn’t embrace it how about the small screen?  I am thinking of something like the Rankin-Bass holiday specials.Yes, I am dating myself but I also know that some of you are right there with me.  Think Rudolph and Santa Claus is Coming to Town.

Can you imaging the Polar Vortex and the Heat Miser battling for control of the world?.  Who would win?  Would we bu plunged into a world of sub zero temperatures or would we all be sweltering in highs that are off the chart.  Who would save the world from these extremes?  Who would be our next super hero.

Okay, maybe I shouldn’t write anything before I’ve had my first cup of coffee.

  1. I think you’d better get to writing the script for this movie. This could seriously enhance your retirement paycheck. If Sharknado could be a hit, I think Polar Vortex has a real shot. 🙂

  2. Ha! You’re right, it does sound like a horror movie. I now have an image of the Polar Vortex and the Abominable Snowman teaming up to create a superhero duo…

Love this post! I was just saying how Polar Vortex is suddenly the in phrase. I don’t ever remember hearing it before, and now you can’t get away from it. Write the script!!

  4. Oh the Polar Vortex! It haunts me still. Great topic- I love how ideas just come to us sometimes…those are the ones to hold on to. Now,,, get to writing that story. 🙂 You’ve got a reader here.

  5. Look at what this crazy seasons is doing to you 🙂 I actually love your wild mind meanderings 🙂

  6. That’s so funny! I liked how you said in your comments that you didn’t know what you were going to write about today, but then this idea hit you. I always think about that when Tuesdays roll around, and I love how something always gets written. Such a valuable thing to talk about with students!

I wonder how longer we would have to wait for the return of the polar vortex?? One year? Five years? Maybe they could make it into a TV movie as then we could see it before the end of the cold season. I am imagining watching the movie when there is an actual polar vortex outside my window!

  8. Two years and finishing strong...

Awesome, even before coffee. I really don’t love the extremes, however, I would prefer Polar Vortex …especially if snow comes with it…oh and coffee with cream!

Hilarious! Why not write that script. I am missing the snow in the PNW.
